A special sporting event, the BCC F1 Weekend Run, was held at the Baku City Circuit as part of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with around 250 participants completing a full six-kilometer lap of the Formula 1 track, the Baku City Circuit told APA.
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov participated in the event.
The run began at 22:00. Participants completed a full lap of the track in the same direction as Formula 1 cars.
The BCC F1 Weekend Run was organized to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen team spirit, and create a sense of unity ahead of the race weekend. This time, the main goal was not speed or results, but participation, mutual support, and a love of sport.
The run became one of the events of Grand Prix week, giving participants an opportunity to experience the Baku City Circuit in a different way. This time, they took directly to the track they usually watch from the grandstands, experiencing the Formula 1 atmosphere up close.
Note that the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held in Baku on September 24–26.
