A media tour has been organized to the Karkijahan settlement of Khankendi city, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
Afet Telmanqizi, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in Khankendi city, as well as in the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, stated that alongside the renovation of houses in the Karkijahan settlement, projects aimed at establishing social infrastructure have also been implemented.
It was noted that renovation works in the Karkijahan settlement began in May of this year. Currently, the settlement has 33 residential buildings and 1,037 private houses. Of these, 247 are uninhabitable and 790 are partially habitable. By the end of this year, the renovation of 40 houses is planned, while 280 houses are scheduled to be renovated in 2026. Renovation works have already been completed in 30 houses.
At the initial stage, a total of 115 residents, comprising 30 families, have returned to the settlement. A number of social infrastructure projects have also been implemented in the settlement. In the area where private houses are located, water, electricity and gas lines have been inspected; 2 kilometers of underground fiber-optic cable and 510 meters of power lines have been laid; lighting poles have been installed; street lighting has been provided; and internal roads have been asphalted. At the same time, major renovation works have been carried out at Kindergarten No. 1 with a capacity of 60 children and a full secondary school with 624 student places.
It should be noted that on December 23, President Ilham Aliyev met with residents who had moved to the Karkijahan settlement of Khankendi city.
