Azerbaijan’s population reaches 8.7 million

51.7% of the population live in urban and 48.3% in rural areas. Men accounted for 49% and women 51% of the population.
23% of the population are aged 0-14, 75% - 15-64 and 7% - above 65. The average age of the population is 32, average life expectancy is 72.4, including 69.7 years for men and 75.1 years for women.
The mortality rate remained dropped to 6.2 from 6.4 deaths per 1,000 people and birth rate decreased to 16.8% from 17.4%.
The country registered 107 900 births, or 394 babies a day during January-September.
The birth rate was per 17 births per 1,000 people. Also, 1 110 twins and 13 triplets were born during this period.
Children born out of marriage accounted for 10% of babies came to the world.
The most popular name for girls were Fatima, Nermin, Fidan, Zehra and Nuray and the most popular names chosen by parents for boys were Ali, Murad, Mahammad, Huseyn and Nihad.
