33 AIDS patients registered in south of Azerbaijan this year

Ageddin Babayev â€“ APA. 33 AIDS patients were registered in the southern region within 9 months of this year, Ramiali Ibishov, director of HIV/AIDS diagnostics laboratory of Lenkeran Hygiene and Epidemiology Center told APAâ€™s local bureau. He said that 37 people examined in the laboratory within nine months of this year were found to have AIDS, 27 of them are from Lenkeran, 6 from Astara and 4 from Masalli. Totally, 246 AIDS patients have been registered in the region, with the exception of Jalilabad and Bilasuvar. 159 of them are from Lenkeran, 40 from Astara, 36 from Masalli, 6 from Yardimli and 5 from Lerik. Ramiali Ibishov said that 3 AIDS patients died in the region in the first half of the year, 20 HIV carriers died in the region within 9 months of last year. Director of the lab said that the majority of the HIV patients were migrants, and the persons leaving for Russia to earn living, so the persons staying abroad for over three months should be examined.
