Police Academy holds solemn event on 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani police

Department head of the Presidential Office Fuad Alasgarov, read out Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s letter of congratulation on the Day of Police. The letter covered that Azerbaijani Police had combated crime every time and played a great role in the protection of human freedom. The Government has paid attention to policemen every time and this care will continue henceforth.
Interior Minister Ramil Usubov addressing event noted that first Interior Ministry was established within the framework of Azerbaijan National Government on May 28, 1918. To him, Ministry and Police Department played a great role in the protection of national values and forming Azerbaijani state during 1918-20. Police structure was reestablished after declaration of Azerbaijanâ€™s independence in 1991.
â€œAzerbaijani Police actively participated in Nagorno Karabakh war. 932 personnel of Interior Affairs and Interior Troops have been martyred and 681 have been invalid. 66 officers of Interior Affairs have been awarded national hero, 247 have been awarded Azerbaijani flag for their merits in military service. Azerbaijani Police combating international and transnational crimes and received membership of Interpolâ€, he said.
Afterwards, Ramil Usubov presented diplomas to 203 leavers of the Academy.
5 excellent leavers have been given senior lieutenant, 198 leavers have been given lieutenant ranks. Military march has been held at the end of the event.
