Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva–APA. State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture will conduct the next avian flu monitoring in autumn. According to APA, Chief of the State Veterinary Service Ismayil Hasanov said that viruses were defined in Azerbaijan without sending to the reference-laboratory of the World Health Organization. “We sent the samples related to the African plague to the reference-laboratory 10 days ago, but the disease was identified in Azerbaijan on January 26. The reference laboratory is for the diagnosis confirmation”. Hasanov noted that World Bank allocated 4/5 million USD to Azerbaijan for the prevention of avian flu and the resources would be spent for purchasing of necessary equipments. 60 per cent of this project was already implemented. According to the chief of the service, it was important that the resources from the state budget were allocated for the prevention of bird flu in time. 800 thousands AZN were allocated at first and then 2.4 million AZN were added. These resources were spent for purchasing of 115 transport means and laboratory equipments as well. Hasanov said all veterinary offices would be re-established in the country by 2015. “There will be no old veterinary office in the regions and villages until then. All offices will be reconstructed again”.
