A principal removed from the office for demanding bribe for the secondary school diploma

Mammadov said Safarova demanded successfully graduated school leavers 100 AZN at first, then 50 and 20 AZN for the diplomas. â€œThe principal told my son who graduated from the 229th school that she wouldnâ€™t give him free diploma at first and later on June 23 she told that she reduced bribe to 20 AZN. My son asked Ganira Safarova to grant him with free diploma because we have no material opportunity, but she was not sorry. She turned my son out of his office and said: â€œI donâ€™t receive your diploma yet. When you will bring money, I will bring your diplomaâ€. I couldnâ€™t feel no concern for the trouble of my child and sent online letter to the Ministry of Education and tried to contact with the minister. The Ministryâ€™s official promised to solve the problem in 20-30 minutes on site. The Ministry official visited the principal together with my son and introduced himself as his uncle giving her demanded money. She received the registered money and promised to give diploma at 10.00 on next day. Then the Ministryâ€™s official officially confirmed his identity, but Ganira Safarova told him â€œLet the minister do his jobâ€ and called to someone and then left the school. The Ministryâ€™s official witnessed the illegal actions of the principal and informed the minister about that. Later Ganira Safarova was removed from the office. As I was informed the investigation began on her caseâ€.
Chief of the Strategic Analysis, Planning and Human Resource Management Sector of Baku City General Education Office Bahman Nabiyev confirmed the Safarovaâ€™s dismissal to APA, but said she was removed not for bribe. Nabiyev said Safarova worked as a principal for 13 years and she was removed at her own notice. He said management was investigated in that school now. The official of Baku City General Education Office said they didnâ€™t receive complaint about the bribe in 229th school.
