Penitentiary Service confirms suicide of prisoner in Gobustan jail

Baku. Mahbuba Gasimbayliâ€“APA. Azerbaijani Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service has confirmed suicide committed by lifer Adalat Gulamov on June 22, the Press Service of the Penitentiary Service told APA.
The criminal case has been launched and Penitentiary Service is investigating the case. The reasons of suicide and mistakes of service officials are being investigated. Lifer Adalat Gulamov and prisoner Chingiz Mammadov dug 1.80-m depth and 4.5â€“m length tunnel to escape from the jail. Chief of Gobustan jail Kazim Abdullayev declined to give information about it.
The criminal case has been launched under Articles 29, 304.1, (Runaway from a place of imprisonment, from place of arrest or from place of guard) 125 (bringing to suicide) of the Criminal Code.
This is second suicide committed in Gobustan jail. Lifer Zeynal Hajiaga Karimov committed suicide on June 3.
