Accused persons request justification in the Farhad Aliyevâ€™s trial

Baku. Haji Zeynalovâ€“APA. On June 25, the Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Judge Mirpasha Huseynov continued a trial on the appeals of former Minister of Economic Development Farhad Aliyev, former President of â€œAzpetrolâ€ Group of Companies Rafig Aliyev and other persons, APA reports. Lawyers Samir Isayev and Eldaniz Isgandarov requested to justify their defendants Maarif Gurbanov and Alikhan Pashayev. Lawyer of Mahammadnabi Rustamov, conditionally sentenced by the Court of Grave Crimes, Gayib Jannatov said his defendant was not guilty. The lawyer requested to annul the Rustamovâ€™s conditional sentence. The process will be continued in the second half of the day by the speech of Rafig Aliyevâ€™s lawyer Fuad Agayev.
The Court of Grave Crimes convicted Farhad Aliyev for 10 and Rafig Aliyev for 9 years of prison. They were accused on Article 179 (Assignment or waste), Article 192 (Illegal business), Article 206 (Smuggling), Article 213 (Evasion from payment of taxes), Article 308 (Abusing official powers), Article 311 (Reception of a bribe) and Article 313 (Service forgery) of the Criminal Code.
