Azer Hatamov: â€œGeneral Prosecutorâ€™s Office of Azerbaijan investigates a large-episode criminal case related to the illicit drug traffickingâ€

Mahbube Gasimbeyli-APA. â€œThe Investigative Department of the General Prosecutorâ€™s Office on the Grave Crimes is investigating a large-episode criminal case related to the illicit drug trafficking, which also relates to the transnational criminal groupâ€, said Azer Hatamov, prosecutor of the Law Maintenance Department of the General Prosecutorâ€™s Office, APA reports. Hatamov said a number of members of the organized criminal group smuggling the narcotic drugs to Azerbaijan via Afghan, Turkish and Iranian channels for long time were arrested on this case. Hatamov said narcotics entered to Azerbaijan through the southern borders mostly. â€œThe most dangerous tendency is that recently drug smuggling to the territory of Azerbaijan were accompanied by the armed assaults. Last year two officers of the law-enforcement bodies were killed during such assaults. Drug Enforcement Administration officers faced with the assaults for many times. Investigation of several criminal cases on these assaults were completed and sent to the Court of Grave Crimesâ€.
