Pupil of secondary school detained for narcotics-related crime in Azerbaijan

860 of these facts were related to the sale, 1386 to storage, 108 growing of narcotics, head of the Working Group of the State Commission Combating Narcomania and Illicit Drug Turnover of Drugs Araz Aliguliyev said, APA reports. He said that 2141 people were detained and held accountable within this period. 1 of them was a pupil of the secondary school, 4 under 18, 512 under 30 and 1625 were above 30. 17 of these people were workers, 11 employees, 2 transport employees, 1994 unemployed, 73 women, 2068 men, 617 ex-prisoners and 60 citizens of foreign countries. Head of the group said that over 92kg drugs had been taken from them. Over 1.150 tones of drugs and psychotropic agents were removed from the illicit turnover within this period.
â€œOver 359 tones of illegal narcotic plants were found and burnt as a result of the operations,â€ he said.
Araz Aliguliyev noted that 32 people died of drug abuse in 2007.
676.575kg narcotics were removed from illicit turnover and burnt last year. This is 33% (170kg) more compared with 2006.
