State budgetary resources allocated for the health development increased by more than four times, nearly 80 medical centers have been reconstructed and 9 state programs have been adopted over the past two years, said Minister Shiraliyev, APA reports. German measles and measles diseases cases have been eliminated in the country. The Minister said three perinatal centers were constructed currently in Baku, Ganja and Lankaran. The perinatal center in Baku will be opened soon. He said regional medical centers would also be provided with Mercedes ambulances by the end of year to reduce differences between the central and regional health systems. The Minister said several years ago 80 percent of medicines entered to the local market were fabricated and now measures have been taken for lifting of chaos in the medicine market of the country. “The ministry held inspections in 1100 chemist shops over the past 6-7 months and nearly 1000 non-registered and expired medicines were confiscated from the stores”. The minister said import of some Russian-made medicines was stopped. “Medicines should contain active agents. Some inexpensive drugs produced in Russia don’t contain active agents and therefore they are not imported. Now we are purchasing more active medicines. They are more useful and can replace several drugs together”. Shiraliyev said 3500 drugs were registered in Azerbaijan and their instructions were translated into the national language. “Medicines not contained translated instructions are not allowed to the market. If the instruction of any medicine was not translated, it means that it was not registered and is illegal”.
