Caspian Shipyard Company’s workers stop strike temporarily

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov-APA-Economics. Workers of Caspian Shipyard Company stopped strike temporarily after achieving of agreement, Mirvari Gahramanli, Chairwoman of the Committee for the Protection of Oil Workers’ Rights told APA-Economics.
To her, about 1000 workers went on strike yesterday. Strikers put forward several demands.
“Here includes increase of salary and payment with Azerbaijani national money, decrease of salary differential between foreigners and local workers. Workers are against involvement of foreigners in employment”, she said.
Gahramanli noted that salary of Azerbaijani workers of the Company was AZN190-210, but foreigners’ salary was $1500.
Singapore-owned Caspian Shipyard Company is subcontractor of Italian Agip Company functioning in Kazakhstan.
Caspian Shipyard Company declined to give information in connection with absence of leadership of the Company.
Jahangir Aliyev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Workers’ Trade Unions Committee told APA-Economics that he would meet leadership of Caspian Shipyard Company and debate demands of strikers.
