Three-four kinds of insects attacked the trees. These are mostly facultative insects. Some years ago saiga antelopes and gazelles were brought to the most ancient and beautiful park of Azerbaijan, later the gazelles were replaced by a deer.
“Deer was brought from the Far east to the lime forests of Bishkek in 1941-1946. Quarantine was violated after that, the insects of the deer make thousands of lime trees dry. The situation is the same in Khan Bagi. Insects of animals make the trees dry,” he said.
Humbatov said he had observed the park for long years, but had never seen insects, which make the trees dry so quickly.
“The leaves of the trees have completely become dry. Urgent measures should be taken in the park, animals should be removed the park. Otherwise, the insects will destroy coniferous trees after broad-leaved trees,” he said.
Ganja public utilities union chief Abid Aliyev said saiga antelopes, deer and other animals will not be removed from the park.
“Ticks attacked the trees, and this is not dangerous,” he said.
