1,797,359 sq m area of Azerbaijan cleared of mines and UXOs in March this year

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov-APA. 1,797,359 sq m area was examined in Azerbaijan in March and 3,223 unexploded ordnances (UXO) were neutralized, Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told APA. 339 officers, 5 mine clearance machines and 30 mine dogs participated in the operations.
ANAMA has cleared 65,625,238 sq m area and neutralized 301,691 mines and UXOs up to now. The agency carries out mine-clearing operations in Terter, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Goranboy and Aghstafa regions.
One mine/UXO accident was recorded in March. According to the statistics, 57 died and 134 were injured in 98 mine accidents since September, 2001.
