The Government of Azerbaijan and UNICEF will hold a high level meeting on the Mid-Term Review (MTR) of their five year plan of collaboration (2005-2009) to discuss its progress and upcoming plans, UNICEF representation in Azerbaijan told the APA.
The meeting will be chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Efendiyev at the Cabinet of Ministers on October 19th, 2007.
The participants, including a number of senior government officials and NGO representatives, will evaluate the results attained and the lessons learnt from the last two years, as well as discuss future interventions.
Mid-term review of the country programme is a possibility to review the progress achieved and to define concrete strategies on how to provide better services and protection for the children in Azerbaijan. As the major outcome of this process UNICEF in partnership with the Government will strengthen its efforts in spheres of health, education, protection and participation.
“We are utterly committed to working with the Government and civil society partners in order to take up the challenges facing the children of Azerbaijan,” said UNICEF Representative Hanaa Singer.
As a result of the Mid-Term Review, recommendations for changes for the remaining period of the country programme (2007-2009) will be developed. Government of Azerbaijan and UNICEF have entered the new Country Programme of cooperation in 2005 covering areas of child protection, health and nutrition, young people’s health and development and education. /APA/
