Azerbaijan resettles 80% of internally displaced persons in new towns

Azerbaijan has begun to resettle the internally displaced persons living in the last 3 refugee camps in new towns. Sanan Huseynov, press secretary of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, said that the refugee camps are located at Sabirabad and Saatli. 80% of the internally displaced persons temporarily living in the last 3 camps have been resettled in the newly established towns.
13 towns have been established in Bilasuvar, Fuzuli, Sabirabad, Aghjabadi and Aghdam to house 4,179 internally displaced families living in train cars in Imishli. 35 internally displaced families were resettled in a new town build in Aghdam. 1,858 families displaced from Jabrail were resettled in 5 towns in Bilasuvar, 21 families displaced from Lachin are being resettled in Aghjabadi and 161 families displaced from Zangilan are being resettled in Sabirabad.
2,104 families will be resettled in 5 towns built in Fuzuli. Resettlement of internally displaced persons is planned to be completed by late October.
There were 12 refugee camps in Azerbaijan, of which 9 have been resettled.
