Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-ECONOMICS. As at April 1, Azerbaijan’s economically active population reached 4 321 800, of which 4 060 500 are employed, said the State Statistical Committee.
According to statistics, the employment opportunities improved and the number of newly hired workers increased in February as against January as a result of measures taken to minimize the impact of the global crisis.
Foreign nationals employed by enterprises and organizations reached 4 900 in January-February.
As of April 1, the number of people with official jobless status made 44 174, of which 46.2% are women.
An average unemployment benefit was AZN 144.5.
