Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. Software piracy is considered the most widespread piracy in Azerbaijan, chief of the Copyright Agency Kamran Imanov said, APA reports. He said the level of software piracy was 90 percent.
“The question is various software programs – Driver, operating system software, applications and data base. About 80 percent of CDs and DVDs in the music market are pirate products” he said.

Imanov said despite this Azerbaijan could not fall under the list of the most pirated states.
“The US declares the list of pirated states. Azerbaijan does not fall under this list. 8 CIS states have been included into the list,” he said.

Chief of the Copyright Agency said awareness should be raised, culture of intellectual property formed and raids made together with law-enforcement agencies in order to prevent piracy.
“Our agency will start raids soon,” he said.

Imanov said he had offered to establish Intellectual Property Center of the Copyright Agency.
“We will work so that all the products of intellectual property have hologram. Center for Management of Digital Rights on the Internet will be established in Azerbaijan. Piracy has widely spread on the internet. Our agency has put forward its proposals in connection with this,” he said.
