Baku. Khanum Naghiyeva – APA. The famous Cannes Film Festival has kicked off today, APA reports quoting the festival’s website. Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby opened the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The film starred by Leonardo DiCaprio has been made basing on F Scott Fitzgerald novel The Great Gatsby.
The festival features 52 full-length feature films, with 20 contesting the “Palme d’Or”. This year the jury is led by famous film director and producer Steven Spielberg.
At the Short Film category this year, Azerbaijan is represented by “9x9” short film co-produced by film companies Narimanfilm and Italian Torre. The film has been written and directed by Radmila Gordich, produced by Nariman Mammadov and Radmila Gordich. The Azerbaijani pavilion will be organized at the festival. Azerbaijani delegation will hold meetings with famous filmmakers and representatives of the production centers.
The 66th Cannes Film Festival will last till May 26.
