APA reports that the budget of this year’s contest beat the record. The budget of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest made € 19,674,703. Serbian government spent € 9.6 million on the decoration, lights and other technical expenses. European Broadcasting Union along with RTS Television Company of Serbia spent extra € 10 million. The contest was aired at HD (High Definition) format.
€ 11 million was spent on Eurovision song contest last year. The 53rd Eurovision Song Contest held in Belgrade is the most expensive event in the history of Serbia. But Summer University Games-2009 is expected to set a new record. The main attention was focused on organizing the show during the contest in Serbia, so unlike Helsinki no other cultural programs were organized in Belgrade.
Moscow had allocated $10 million on the performance of Russia’s representative Dima Bilan, winner of Eurovision-2008 Song Contest.
Elnur Huseynov and Samir Javadzadeh were awarded the nomination the best performance of Eurovision-2008 Song Contest.
