Tunzala Agayeva: Azerbaijani representative in Eurovision-2008 song contest should be a diplomat and politician at the same time
“We should promote our culture within three minutes. It requires professionalism. It is not right just to sit and hope for the best. It seems we are expecting a miracle. Maybe arrangements are made behind the curtains, but there are no results,†she said.
Tunzala Agayeva underlined that all the three candidates selected from Azerbaijan are talented and added that a singer having international practice should represent Azerbaijan.
“The world does not recognize us in pop music. It would be quite another matter, if it were an ethnic contest. But the singer who will represent Azerbaijan in this song contest should have experience, he should know not only Azerbaijan, but French, German, English. That representative should be diplomat, politician at the same time. The countries which will attend this contest have already sent their representatives to European tournament, but we have not yet done such thing. There were several changes in the rules of the contest this year. The countries which will pass first 10 places should have to pass selection tournament,†she said.
Ms. Agayeva saying that she has already presented the song she composed for “Eurovision†song contest considers her composition well.
“I am not informed about the other composers. I hope that they also composed their song taking format of the contest into account,†she said.
Singer said that she supports Elnur Huseynov among participants of the final.
But Tunzala Agayeva does not support Azerbaijan’s participation in the above-said contest for this year.
“Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfez Garayev said that it is not advisable to participate in Eurovision song contest in 2008. We had to prepare two years ago for attending Eurovision,†she said. /APA/
