If the European Broadcasting Union raises issue on expelling a country from the contest, the union solves it itself, because expulsion from the contest is not in the competence of the participating countries,” head of Azerbaijani delegation for Eurovision Adil Karimli told APA.

Commenting on Armenian media reports that the European Broadcasting Union sent a questionnaire to the participating countries in connection with Azerbaijan’s participation in Eurovision-2010, Adil Karimli said he was unaware of it. He said the reports that the Azerbaijanis voting for Armenia’s representatives in Eurovision-2009 were summoned to the National Security Ministry, were not officially confirmed.
“No investigation has been carried out yet. The EBU certainly will not pass such a decision, this is wrong. The question is that Armenian media avails itself of the information that has not been confirmed officially. Media should be attentive to this kind of issues. The European Broadcasting Union has not made an official statement about it. As far as we know from media European Broadcasting Union has simply begun investigations. If investigation is being carried out, of course information will be given about it,” he said.
Armenian television has reported today that the European Broadcasting Union will hold voting among the participating countries for expelling Azerbaijan from Eurovision-2010.
