Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations has conducted an inspection in connection with “Mushfigabad mosque” religious community, where representatives of radical religious denominations are allegedly gathering and which is supporting Azerbaijanis leaving for Syria to fight.
The Committee told APA that the activity of the religious community, which has not been reregistered by the State Committee in Mushfigabad mosque, Garadagh district, has recently been inspected and a number of irregularities have been revealed.
The inspections have already completed and the results are being investigated: “After the investigation, a final decision will be taken in this regard and a relevant statement will be issued.”
According to information, other unregistered religious communities will also be checked by the Committee.
Mubariz Gachayev, Imam of Mushfigabad mosque, told APA that the step taken by the Committee is unclear: “I don’t know why the inspections are being conducted. I’m unaware of this.”
As for Azerbaijanis fighting in Syria, Gachayev refused to answer: “I can not talk about it.”
Sayyid Jamal Azizbeyli, the representative of Karabakh Sayyids, told APA that this place has become a dangerous place where Kharijities are gathering: “I was told by the people gathering at this mosque. The state must take necessary measures in this regard. Our state is facing a real threat. If it goes on, an armed incident will likely take place in the mosque soon.”
