Elshad Iskandarov: Unfortunately, some destructive forces try to create a gap between the believers and society in Azerbaijan

Assessing the role of religious organizations and institutions in the upcoming presidential elections, Iskandarov said that Azerbaijan is a secular state: ‘Use of religious organizations in political games is not right from ethic and legal point of view. On the other hand, the members of religious communities are also Azerbaijani citizens. Modernization and improvement of welfare of the Azerbaijani people in the last 10 years have influenced our believers, too. They are a part of the society, it is unacceptable to separate them, marginalize, divide or create a gap between them and the society. Unfortunately, these steps are being taken by some destructive forces’.
