Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Caucasian Muslim Board (CMB) has commented on the issue of holding religious ceremonies under the portraits of state officials and flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran in villages of Baku, especially Nardaran on the Day of Ashura.

Such cases were not recorded in the mosques and sanctuaries under the control of the Board, CMB said in its statement to APA.

As the video footages were spread across the Internet, CMB launched an investigation in the mosques of Baku villages that are under its control, but didn’t reveal such a fact:

“CMB and its Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade consider that it is a provocation aimed at undermining relations between the two countries on the eve of Iranian President’s visit to Azerbaijan. We urge our religious figures to avoid such provocations. CMB condemns and considers holding religious ceremonies under the flag or the portraits of political leaders of another country inadmissible. All the religious ceremonies are held within our national and spiritual values, and no state can affect us,” CMB said.

Note that, in connection with the arrival of the month of Muharram and the Day of Ashura, many villages of Baku, especially Nardaran, performed rituals under the portraits of state officials and the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The video footages were posted on the Internet.
