The message was read out by Kamal Abdulla, State Adviser on Multinational, Multicultural and Religious Affairs, APA reports.
Noting that Azerbaijan is known as a place of tolerance, the head of State said the event being held in Baku, where people of different religions and faiths have been coexisted in a mutual understanding for centuries, is symbolic.
“Taking into account the issues that we discuss, play a crucial role for modern Europe, it should be noted that historically various religions in this content had a significant impact on the peoples’ spiritual enrichment. This traditional enrichment, affecting all layers of society, has actually become one of the most important conditions for its integrity. At the same time, the formation of a high tolerance environment in education, culture and other fields related to the education of the younger generation is one of the main objectives of the current period.”
President Ilham Aliyev stressed in his message that Azerbaijan is taking concrete steps in this direction and said the newly established Baku International Center of Multiculturalism aims at using different models of cultural diversity in the world and promotion of good practice.
“I hope that the Center will gain success in-depth study of the cultural diversity that is spiritual heritage of humanity and create favorable conditions for the realization of our good intentions based on the global historical, cultural, religious and moral values through it activities. Ongoing political, economic and cultural processes in the rapidly globalizing world demand all states to give an adequate answer to immediate challenges. It is possible only through the development of inter-state cooperation, establishment of new creative thinking and innovative environment, as well as respect for one's religious beliefs, elimination of any manifestation of racism and intolerance. I believe that this meeting will contribute to the process of creating a desirable environment in the European space and final decisions will serve the development of the European family.”
