Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “Believers’ supporting and voting for a decent candidate is not politics. To elect is a constitutional right of believers, they can express and support their choices. It is a sin when someone deals with slander and calumny to violate this right, deviates people from right path and abuses religion for this purpose,” said Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Board (CMB) Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh in his interview with APA.
Asked about the religious leaders’ role in the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Pashazadeh stated that he has been holding meetings in Rostov, Moscow and Montreux since the beginning of the conflict: “Except for Montreux meeting, all of the meetings have been mediated by the Russian Orthodox Church. The Montreux meeting has been organized by the World Council of Churches. The aim of this meeting was to passage of the transition of territorial conflict to religious plan. The meetings, our joint agreements and documents have served only this purpose and were of historical importance. We intend to assist in the peaceful settlement of the conflict. If these negotiations and meetings have positive impacts on the process, we should continue it. Karabakh is our eternal and historical land and we should continue our efforts until these territories are liberated.”
Touching upon tension and wars in the Muslim world, in some Arab states, Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Board thinks that these issues and clashes are backed by political, economic interests of some circles and forces: “The fact that the main conflict hot spots, war sites cover the territories settled by Muslims shows the intention to confuse the Islamic world and conduct mass killing of Muslims. Muslims themselves are used for this purpose. Sectarian differences are blown up deliberately and misused to be put face to face. As regards the processes in Arab countries, we have clearly stated our position in the statements regarding the events in Egypt and Syria. As no government has managed to bring democracy with bayonets, it is also impossible to make people happy with aggression and foreign intervention. No policy should cause massacre of innocent people, unjust bloodshed and destruction of residential areas, holy temples”.
Taking a stance on high cost of Hajj pilgrimage, Pashazadeh said that the pilgrimages to holy places are being realized in accordance with the requirements of these countries: “In this case, the prices are also determined by them. Caucasian Muslims Board organizes Hajj pilgrimage on the basis of the prices set in the protocols, signed annually with Hajj Ministry of Saudi Arabia. General rise in prices are connected with economic affairs and price hike in transport expenditures in the world”.
