Baku – APA. The Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management (CSJMM) is recruiting applicants from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Central Asia for its two-year master’s degree program in journalism and media management. CSJMM told APA that the deadline for applications is September 15.
Twenty applicants will be selected in competition to study for four semesters from September 2009 to May 2011. The students will study for two semesters in their home countries, and the core program, which consists of the defense of a thesis and graduation, will take place in Georgia.
The curriculum is based on a hands-on, experiential approach, using the latest techniques of fact-based, professional reporting and writing for print, broadcast and online media. Areas of advertising, journalism ethics, photojournalism, law of communications and media management also will be covered..
The journalism faculty and curriculum for the school will be provided in partnership with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Louisiana State University. The CSJMM program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Open Society Institute, the governments of France, Great Britain and Poland. Students are required to pay UER 2,000 (about USD 2,840).
The enrollment process includes the TOEFL test, an essay in the applicant’s native language, and an interview with the selection committee. Previous training or education in journalism is not required.
