For the first time since the 1990s, grain wagons have been sent from the Gmelinskaya station in Russia’s Volgograd Region to Armenia via Azerbaijan, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing the press service of the Privolzhskaya Railways.
It was reported that the first batch, consisting of 8 grain wagons, will be delivered to Yerevan station.
It was noted that by the end of this year, it is planned to send 30 grain wagons - more than two thousand tons of grain - via this route. The Privolzhskaya Railways also stated that the new logistics service became possible with the restoration of cargo transit to Armenia through Azerbaijan.
