Shahin Mustafayev: Mingachevir Reservoir returned to multi-year regulation regime in 2024

“Compared to 8 billion cubic meters in 2020, nearly 13 billion cubic meters of water reserves have now been accumulated in the Mingachevir Reservoir, the country’s largest reservoir. Thus, since 2024, the Mingachevir Reservoir has been returned to a multi-year regulation regime,” the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting on water supply in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, APA reports.

“In accordance with your assignment, the technical safety assessment of the nationally important "Shamkir", "Yenikend", "Mingachevir" and "Varvara" cascade reservoirs has been completed by involving a consulting company, and the implementation of the relevant action plan approved by the commission has begun. In accordance with a decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated May 1, 2025, these reservoirs have also been transferred to the balance of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency,” Shahin Mustafayev added.
