The issuance of a postage stamp commemorating flight J2-8243 has significant moral significance both domestically and internationally, said Ilham Amirov, Vice President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), at the presentation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to the memory of flight J2-8243, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that a postage stamp may sometimes appear to be a small piece of paper, but in reality it is a bearer of a country’s and a nation’s history and culture: “These small symbols, sent from country to country, reaching different addresses, prompting reflection whenever seen, and carrying history within them, remain in albums years later and are passed down from generation to generation. In this sense, putting stamps dedicated to flight J2-8243 into circulation is a very valuable step that makes the memory long-lasting and conveys it to the wider public.”

Recall that the passenger aircraft operated by AZAL on the Baku–Grozny route crashed near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25 last year. Of the 67 people on board the aircraft, 38 were killed and 29 survived.
