The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project has been practically completed and work is currently underway to put it into operation, said Lasha Abashidze, General Director of Georgian Railways JSC, APA's local bureau reports.
According to him, the process of preparing the necessary documents for commissioning and handover is currently underway.
Abashidze stressed that the BTK project is of great importance for Georgia:
Onun sözlərinə görə, hazırda istismara vermə və təhvil-təslim üçün lazımı sənədlərin hazırlanması prosesi gedir.
"This infrastructure project will directly connect us with Türkiye and will allow attracting additional cargo flows in the direction of Georgia."
The head of the JSC also said that active work is being carried out with the participating countries to increase the efficiency of the Middle Corridor and the speed of transportation.
"The increase in container transportation from China through the corridor is about 40-50%. This is a fairly significant increase. We expect further growth in the coming years," Abashidze added.
It should be noted that recently, Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili stated that the grand opening of the BTK project will take place very soon.
