Deputy PM: Aghband bridge will be put into operation soon - PHOTO

Members of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission have familiarized themselves with the construction work being carried out on the Horadiz–Aghband highway and railway, an important link of the Zangezur corridor, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Zangilan reports.

The guests visited the automobile bridge built over the Araz River in the Aghband settlement.

It was noted that the Horadiz–Aghband highway is being constructed in accordance with the first technical category. Of the total length of 126.3 kilometers, 78.5 kilometers consist of six lanes, while 45 kilometers consist of four lanes.

The guests were informed that construction of the Horadiz–Aghband railway line began in 2021, and currently, 75% of the work has been completed. It was noted that the length of the project along the axis is 110.4 kilometers, and together with side roads, it amounts to 140.6 kilometers.

Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev stated that the bridge in the Aghband settlement is ready and will be put into operation in the near future: “Currently, construction of border checkpoint facilities is underway on both sides and will be commissioned soon.”

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk noted that the newly constructed bridge is part of both the North-South and East-West international transport corridors: “The Russian Federation is highly interested in putting this infrastructure into operation as soon as possible.”

He added that this route will be convenient for cargo transportation from Russia to Iran, Nakhchivan, and Türkiye, and will benefit all countries through joint use.
