18.5 mln. tons of cargo is expected to be transported through the railways of Azerbaijan this year, said Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of "Azerbaijan Railways" Closed Joint Stock Company, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, this year marks a significant increase in cargo transportation by railways is observed this year: "If we transported15 million tons of cargo last year, 17 mln. tons of cargo were transported in 11 months of this year. ," Rovshan Rustamov said.
The chairman added that there was a significant increase in transit cargo transportation, and this growth was observed in both east-west and north-west directions.
