“A commission has been established in Kazakhstan, and the investigation is still ongoing. Within one year from the date of the incident, the commission presented its preliminary report at the end of January this year. However, the final report has not yet been completed,” Ilham Amirov, Vice President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), said at the presentation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to the memory of flight J2-8243, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the commission’s preliminary report already reflects that unlawful physical interference occurred with the aircraft while it was in the air: “After the black box was decoded, it became clear that three of the aircraft’s vital systems failed simultaneously. This happened as a result of external interference with the aircraft.”

The AZAL Vice President stated that the purpose of the event was the presentation of a postage stamp dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives on flight J2-8243, noting that the stamp was prepared through a joint initiative of AZAL and Azerpost:

“I worked as a pilot for 40 years. After this incident, I have put myself in that crew’s place a hundred times. How did they manage to fly the aircraft in that condition? I still cannot find an answer to this. Even the aircraft manufacturing plants are astonished by it. The proceeds from the sale of the postage stamp will be spent on the education and other needs of the families of the martyrs.”

Ilham Amirov noted that this postage stamp will be circulated all over the world and will eternally preserve the memory of those who lost their lives on that flight.
