Azerbaijan presents education informatization experience at ITU World Telecom 2009

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan has presented its education informatization experience at the ITU World Telecom 2009 in Geneva.

Samir Mammadov, Education Informatization officer at the Ministry of Education; Samad Abbasov, head of the Azerbaijan Education Network; Tahir Mirkishili, President of Ultra, held a presentation on the countryâ€™s experience in applying IT into the education system as part of the State Program on Informatization of Education during 2008-2012.

Besides, they briefed the participants about the establishment of the Azerbaijan Education Network (AZEDUNET), Information and Resource Center, on e-School 1:1 (one student - one computer), as well as the National Educational Portal Edu.az.

In addition, two documentaries on informatization of the education system and a special issue of Electronic Education Magazine in English were presented.

Azerbaijanâ€™s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has also visited Geneva for the annual event.

Azerbaijanâ€™s National Stand at the exhibition shows the countryâ€™s best practices in the introduction of information technology.
