Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Cargo transportation increased by 2.1%, year-on-year, to 122 million tons and cargo turnover increased by 5.7% in January-August, said the State Statistical Committee.
Of this, 47.8% were transported by road, 34.1% by pipeline (including 20.9% by Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and 2.1% by Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines), 11% by rail and 7.1% by sea.
Private sector took 72.9% of the total transportation.
