Hyundai to show off i10 Electric

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Hyundai Motor Corporation is on course to beef up its ‘Blue Drive’ eco-initiative at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this month. The Korean company, which also has operations in India, will showcase range of its new eco-friendly technologies and products that show Hyundai’s commitment to lowering emissions and improving the fuel economy of its vehicles.
The Hyundai i10 Electric, a zero emissions urban commuter vehicle which will see limited series production begin in 2010 starting with the Korean market. It will be sold to government ministries, state corporations and utilities in the first stage. The retail sales date is not decided. Powered by a 49kW motor and a 16kWh battery, the i10 Electric promises a driving range of 160km and top speed of 130km/h. It features x-by-wire systems for steering, air conditioning, water pump and brake vacuum pump.
In addition to the electric version of i10, the all-new Hyundai ix-Metro, a Hybrid Electric CUV for the European market, will also be unveiled at 2099 Frankfurt Motor Show. Created by Hyundai’s Global Design Team based in Namyang, Korea, the ix-Metro is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Other Hyundai vehicles that will be on display at Frankfurt will be the Elantra LPI Hybrid, Blue Will Plug-In Hybrid Electric concept vehicle, ix35 SUV and the new Santa Fe, as mentioned in its official release.
The i10 Electric can be charged via either a 220V household power outlet for a five hour charge, or a specialised 415V charging point achieving 85 percent capacity in just 15 minutes.
More details are scheduled to be revealed at the i10 Electric’s Frankfurt unveiling.
