The lawyer said though the court sentenced Jahangir Hajiyev to 4-month imprisonment on Dec.5, he is still being detained in the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime.
According to the law, a person, in respect of whom a preventive measure was chosen in the form of arrest, shall be transferred to the detention facility within 24 hours, said the lawyer. The lawyer said they appealed to the Narimanov district court on the fact.
Layijov went on to add that on Dec.10, Baku Court of Appeal will consider the appeal filed against the Dec.5 verdict of the Narimanov district court.
Hajiyev faces charges under articles #179.1 (assignment or waste, plunder of property entrusted to guilty by another person) and 308 (abusing official powers) of the Criminal Code.
