Turkish citizen on international wanted list detained in Georgia, being brought to Azerbaijan

An agreement has been reached on the extradition to Azerbaijan of Turkish citizen Osman Kaya, who was placed on the international wanted list based on a request by the Prosecutor General’s Office, APA reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, he is accused of repeated fraud causing large-scale damage in a criminal case under investigation by the Investigation and Inquiry Department of the Baku City Main Police Department.

Osman Kaya, who had been declared internationally wanted through Interpol for evading the investigation, was detained while attempting to illegally cross the Georgian border.

Measures are currently underway to bring him to Azerbaijan.

“At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s Office continues close cooperation with foreign partner agencies in order to identify wanted persons in foreign countries and bring them to the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the statement said.
