Person accused in assassination of Azerbaijani MP Fazili Mustafa revealed he wanted to enter gov't institutions and shoot everyone

The next trial was held on the criminal case of Emin Aliyarov, Rashad Ahmadov, Azar Sarijanov, Elshad Asgarov and Sabuhi Shirinov, who were detained in connection with the attempted assassination of Azerbaijani member of the Parliament Fazil Mustafa, APA reports.

Azar Sarijanov said that they wanted to punish Fazil Mustafa as a protest against his religious speeches.

Answering the judge's questions, Azar Sarijanov said that he pleads guilty to planning terrorism.

The accused said that he wanted to enter other government institutions and shoot everyone there except women.

Azar Sarijanov's statement given during the investigation on November 15, 2023 was announced. In said statement, he indicated that he planned to enter other government institutions with a machine gun and a pistol on himself and shoot everyone who came across him: "However, I was not able to carry out any of these plans, as I was caught."

The trial will continue on May 10.

In connection with the fact, a criminal case has been initiated in the main investigation department of the State Security Service under articles 277, 228.2.1 and other articles of the Criminal Code.

Note that the incident took place on March 28 last year. A terrorist attack was committed by firing from a "Kalashnikov" assault rifle in front of the house where Mustafa Fazil Gazanfar, the member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, was living.

Emin Aliyarov, Rashad Ahmadov, Azar Sarijanov, Elshad Asgarov and Sabuhi Shirinov have been indicted in the criminal case conducted by the State Security Service.
