Qatar has denied the accuracy of reports circulating on social media attributing remarks to Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani suggesting that the United States and Iran had failed to reach an agreement, describing the reports as false and misleading, SANA reports.
In a statement published on the social media platform X on Saturday, Qatar‘s International Media Office said the claims attributed to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister regarding the failure of Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement were baseless.
The office added that the Qatari foreign minister’s remarks had been systematically distorted by parties benefiting from the continuation of war and instability in the region. It said fake accounts were spreading such claims to undermine diplomatic efforts and push the region toward further escalation.
The office stressed that the Qatari minister had confirmed that Washington and Tehran were continuing to work toward reaching an agreement.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said on the fourth of this month that Doha was continuing its diplomatic efforts to bridge differences between the United States and Iran and exchange proposals aimed at overcoming their disagreements. He noted that both sides remained engaged in negotiations and were reviewing proposals despite escalating tensions in the region.
