Two facts of resistance against Azerbaijani frontier guards recorded on Iranian border this month

Press service of the State Border Service told APA that 37 232 kg smuggled drugs were seized as cross-border criminal gangs were rendered harmless.

The attempts of two gunmen to smuggle a great deal of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan were prevented in Shahriyar village of Bilasuvar region on January 3. The trespassers, who showed resistance against the frontier guards, left the smuggled goods and fled. 8 kg drugs (2 kg heroin, 4 kg opium and 2 kg hashish) were seized.

Three gunmen were prevented from smuggling a great deal of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan in Esedli village of Jalilabad region on January 8. The gunmen showed resistance to the frontier guards, one serviceman of the State Border Service was injured. As a result of the operations, 20 kg heroin and 5 kg opium were seized from detained resident of Jabrayil region Faig Mardaliyev.

Criminal case has been launched under the relevant articles on the above-mentioned facts. The detained persons were brought to account and sentenced to pretrial detention.
