The statement says that an attempt made by a criminal group of three persons to violate the state border near #59 border tab (2nd Shahsevan village of Beylagan) on Azerbaijan-Iran border on February 3. The trespassers met border guards while smuggling goods from Azerbaijan to Iran by boat. They didn’t obey the border guards’ legal requirements and used fire arms against them.
When after the warning of the border guards the smugglers abandoned a part of the smuggled goods in the territory of Azerbaijan and fled, the boat overturned in the Araz river. But the trespassers managed to cross to the territory of Iran. Measures are underway to determine the members of the criminal gang, reveal the boat and other material evidence.
