The press service of the Prosecutor’s Office told APA that an appeal made by a resident of Shamkir region to the “161 hotline” of the Anti-corruption Department under Prosecutor General regarding the illegal actions of chief of Tazakand municipality of the region Mahammad Mammadov has been investigated.
It was found out that chief of the municipality Mammadov demanded AZN 1,200 bribe from the resident of the village for allocation of plot of land in the above-mentioned village and for relevant documents.
Mammadov was caught red-handed while taking bribe by the officers of the Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General on February 25. Bribe in the amount of AZN 1200, application of the complainant and applications of six other citizens were seized in the presence of witnesses.
Criminal case has been launched on the fact on article 311.1 (taking bribe) of the Criminal Code, Mammadov has been sentenced to pre-trial detention.
Thorough investigation is underway, necessary measures are being continued to determine and bring to justice the other participants of the crime.
