The names of those detained during the police operation at the "Sputnik Azerbaijan" office have been revealed, APA reports.
The detainees include Igor Kartavikh, the executive director of Sputnik’s Baku branch, and Yevgeny Belousov, the chief editor.
Note that the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Press Service reported that although the accreditation of the Baku branch of the “Rossiya Segodnya” News Agency (“Sputnik Azerbaijan”) was suspended in February 2025, the Ministry launched an investigation based on operational information about its continued activity through illegal funding.
It was stated that on June 30, an operational-search measure was conducted at the branch’s office, and several people were detained.
