A person identified as M.M., born in 1992, has been detained in Georgia on charges of violating traffic safety rules and causing a fatality, APA's local bureau reports, citing the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The investigation found that the suspect, while driving under the influence of alcohol in the Gardabani district yesterday, hit a pedestrian identified as A.Q., born in 2007. The teenager died at the scene from injuries sustained.
Law enforcement officers detained the driver “hot on the trail” after the accident.
An investigation is underway. The offence carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
According to reports, the victim has been identified as Aida Gurbanova.
