An investigation has been launched into the torture and intentional killing of Azerbaijani citizens in the city of Yekaterinburg, said Nemat Avezov, head of the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, APA reports.
He noted that preliminary investigations have established that numerous Azerbaijani citizens living at various addresses in Yekaterinburg were detained for crimes committed in previous years: "They were struck multiple times with hard, blunt objects, causing severe injuries. Huseyn Safarov died from his injuries around 3 p.m. the same day at the administrative building of the Yekaterinburg Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ziyaddin Safarov died the next day while being transported in an operational vehicle due to his injuries. The bodies were brought to our country, and medical examinations were assigned. A large investigative team was formed by the decision of the First Deputy Prosecutor General, and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been placed under special supervision by the Prosecutor General."
