A vehicle transporting a shipment of "prepared food products" from Iran to Germany via transit through Azerbaijan was inspected using a stationary X-ray scanner at the Shahtakhti customs post of the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department, after which the cargo was subjected to a detailed customs inspection, the department told APA.
During the inspection, narcotic drugs were discovered concealed beneath canned rice packed in 1,218 plastic containers.
The net weight of the heroin, hidden using a sophisticated concealment method, was 112 kg 761 grams.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
